Food and Drink: A starter pack of homemade, Scottish and Fair Trade provisions is included in the price of the cottage.
The nearby village of Drymen has an excellent selection of pubs, restaurants and shops, while the next nearest (Balfron) is the best for everyday shopping, having a first class butcher, bakery and greengrocer, a pharmacy, newsagent and a small supermarket.
Combine these with all the other surrounding towns and villages, plus Glasgow and Stirling within 30 minutes' drive, and the choice is endless.

Provisions at Ballat Smithy Cottage

Scotland is famous throughout the world for its produce and we take great pride in offering a selection for you to try.

The area surrounding the cottage, known as Strathendrick, is predominantly a dairy farming region, and locally produced milk and butter are provided.

Scottish Cheddar cheese is delicious, and a mature version from either the Mull of Kintyre or Orkney creamery is supplied. Accompanied by Scottish oatcakes, this is heavenly food!

Bacon and eggs is a favourite Scottish breakfast, especially when the bacon is reared and cured in Scotland and the organic eggs come free range from Peter Candy's Easter Ballat Farm.  Followed by home made bread, made using organic flour and sweetened with honey from the heather moors, spread with jam home made from local Stirlingshire raspberries, we can guarantee you won't need any lunch!

The kitchen cupboards are stocked with everything you might need for cooking: salt, pepper, flour, oil and stock cubes; and we also supply Fair Trade tea, sugar, instant and ground coffee, and drinking chocolate.
